What I wonder is why are the media arms of billionaires Haim Saban (Gizmodo) and Pierre Omidyar (The Intercept) reporting this story? Is it just billionaires jockeying for power and influence, is it a means of forging novel lines of division, or is it both and then some?

It just strikes me as a little suspect when plutocrats who back warmongering politicians with campaign contributions and ultimately push imperialist narratives start simultaneously running negative pieces about fellow billionaires who also contribute to the American war machine.
