The only way to test this hypothesis would be to actually deplatform disinformation and extremism. Trump and some extremist groups and individuals may have been banned from some social media platforms, but I believe we’re not even 0.1% of the way to deplatforming disinformation and extremism. Quadrillions of bytes of disinformation are created and spread across social media everyday. “Heal” and “cure” would also have to be defined, here. For victims of extremist violence who lost their lives, of course there can be no remedy.
