That’s a nonsense argument. People just want to know what they are putting in their bodies. Protein isn’t unsafe. Vitamin C isn’t unsafe. Products of Mexico or Canada aren’t categorically unsafe. That all gets included on food labels. And I am 100% for forcing companies to tell us what is in the food they’re selling us. I prefer accurate labels and no shenanigans.
Telling me I should accept less information when there is the potential to compel companies to provide me with more information is never going to fly. I advocate for maximum information so that everyone has the opportunity to make maximally informed decisions. Arguments against that are literally arguments for ignorance. No thanks.
If you think there are advantages to GMO crops then you should be thrilled with GMO labels. That way you can be sure to buy GMO. You can tell all your friends about how great GMO is, too, and advocate for them to be sure to buy GMO.
