That little headline “Democracy dies in darkness” is laughable when you consider that the United States has been an oligarchy for decades, this fear-mongering headline was on the Washington Post, one of our ruling oligarchs owns the Washington Post, and that same oligarch sells Trump’s daughter’s merchandise on his online retail site.

Power consolidated into the hands of a few a long time ago. They have been using distraction tactics just like this to make this consolidation as opaque as possible this whole time because, yes, democracy did die in darkness… if it was ever alive in the United States to begin with. Seeing as how the 3/5ths Compromise and the Electoral College undermined democracy in the United States from day one, probably not.

Meanwhile, Melania does not appear to be conducting much if any of the typical FLOTUS duties.

Also, so what? The FLOTUS is not mentioned in the Constitution. We have even had multiple times in history where there either was no FLOTUS or the FLOTUS wasn’t the President’s spouse. Melania wasn’t elected and isn’t some sort of slave to the public who has to perform duties for us. She’s just married to the Donald Trump, is all. That’s got to be bad enough already, so let’s not pile on her and make her life even worse.

Let’s just focus on how repugnant this entire administration is.
