I agree that the claim that racial discrimination has ended would be totally incorrect. But I don’t think that was the claim of the vegan who made the drawing. I think they aimed to draw the attention to the fact that while racial discrimination in Western countries has decreased over the last 100 years (e.g. we have abolished slavery and implemented anti-discrimination laws), the exploitation and suffering of animals as increased (esp. in factory farms).

I’m not putting any words into anyone’s mouth. That individual tweeted that the victims are different today, but black people are still being victimized. Whether the person who sent that tweet meant to or not, he or she thought it was OK to erase the present-day systematic murder of black people in order to make a point about the mistreatment of animals in the factory farm system. That’s racist.

If you condemn one form of injustice and endorse another, you’re a hypocrite, but different activists will have different priorities.

This was my entire point about intersectionality. Social justice of all stripes must be intersectional or it is, at best, of marginal value. This applies to veganism. White-centered veganism is straight up annoying, and I would argue that what you just said applies to white-centered veganism, that if you endorse one form of injustice while advocating veganism, you are a hypocrite. If you are comparing black people to animals or are willing to erase the modern realities that black people face in order to make a point about the slaughter of animals, you are part of the problem, not part of the solution.
