I may still check in to see who Jimmy Dore is railing against, or catch Ana Kasparian going off on student loan shenanigans and dress codes, and I’m obviously still a nerd, so NerdAlert is on the table, but I don’t have high long-term expectations for the politics of the network, and I have about 20 million reasons to believe it’s heading in the wrong direction.
Here is a recent video that touches on exactly what I was talking about:
In this video, we have Jimmy Dore, Steve Oh, and Michael Shure talking about the potential Republican-Democrat “unity ticket” that the Kasich camp has cooked up in the context of how oligarchs would like this more than ordinary people. They go on at length about how the oligarchs have infiltrated politics, and, having bought both Democrats and Republicans, wouldn’t really mind if the two major parties joined forces to stamp out populism and stave off any legitimately revolutionary politics from being discussed in Washington.
They are probably right that this got the oligarch stamp of approval. But, what does it say when TYT has received such enormous backing from oligarchs? What does it say when WndrCo poured so much money into TYT, and TYT allowed a managing partner of 3L Capital onto its board?
If the conjecture that a potential Kasich-Hickenlooper unity ticket is only being rumored because it has already gotten the oligarchs’ blessing, what does it say about the material TYT chooses to produce everyday? Does the exact same logic not dictate that TYT has also secured the blessings of the oligarchy if they are using oligarch money to produce material?
