Christianity is not rooted in logic. It is rooted in arbitrary interpretations of arbitrary doctrine. It is perfectly in keeping with Christianity for Christians to arbitrarily support a candidate seemingly at odds with their own stated principles for invented reasons. Outsiders only think of that as hypocritical because we are attempting to apply a logical interpretation to those same principles, but, when we get frustrated about this, it is our fault for not attempting to empathize with a cohort whose worldview is in no way informed by a rational interpretation of objective reality but, rather, fear and superstition.
In other words, this should come as a surprise to no one.
