Says the American who has never experienced revolution.

By this logic, you have to experience something before you have an opinion about it. Martin Luther King delivered the “I Have a Dream” speech in 1963 without having experienced the world after the Civil Rights Act of 1964, only having experienced the world before it. Was he wrong to think of a better future? I don’t think so.

I, myself, have some other opinions:

• I have never experienced a major asteroid impact that would wipe out civilization and lead to mass extinctions. My opinion is that I don’t want to.
• I have never experienced a world where a runaway greenhouse effect has irrevocably devastated the Earth’s environment, but, yet, I still have this wild opinion that we should not continue the status quo with regard to our emission of greenhouse gases.
• I have never been shot by a police officer, but I would prefer it if fewer people in America were shot by police officers.
• I have never invaded Syria, but I also don’t want to invade Syria.

So, please, save your illogical rhetoric for someone else. Our two-party system is corrupt and doing great harm to most Americans and the entire world. It is our moral obligation to upend it. In this sense, it is analogous to global warming. Do we accept it and let it destroy us, or do we use our votes and voices to demand change?
