By the logic of this article, I need to understand how to store, clean, take apart, and detonate a nuclear weapon in order to form a meaningful opinion about them. My opinion that I don’t want nuclear weapons distributed to everyone in America is evidently just ignorant and easily discounted because I don’t know how to store, clean, disassemble, or detonate them. While I’m at it, should I be a smoker in order to form a meaningful opinion of cigarettes?

It is also a blatant distraction tactic to talk about how the muzzle energy of an M1-Garand is higher than that of an M-16/AR-15. If that were the relevant metric, and if that is all it took to make it a more effective killing machine, the US military would never have made the switch to the M-16. Bottom line: the M-16 is overall more effective at killing people, even if its bullets can’t fire through as thick a slab of concrete as an M1-Garand’s.

It is pointless to try to defend the Second Amendment as being anything other than a piece of legislation from a quarter of a millennium ago. You argue that nobody wants to have to manually reload every bullet while hunting because “that’s primitive,” but, when the Second Amendment was penned, rifles were muzzle loaded, and an expert marksman could only achieve about two shots per minute, at the high end. If you want to talk about primitive, it’s the Second Amendment, because it is based on firearms of a bygone era, when you could at most shoot twice a minute.

Just the facts: Writer. Gamer. Feminist. Educated in Astrophysics. Professional Gambler. Student of Language. Satanist. Anarchist.
