AI does not need to surpass you in order to displace you (it can never replace you). It just needs to be cost effective. It can perform much worse and yet be adequate. The prime examples of this in action are automated answering systems and customer service chatbots. These are far worse than humans at assisting customers, and yet they're ubiquitous. Why? Presumably because the savings from not paying people to do work outweighs the cost of irritating your customers.

This will only become more the case as consolidation intensifies, and customers are facing down an increasing number of monopolies.

Being a creator isn't a reliable out. If OpenAI can just steal the material you create and then provide an inferior, yet adequate, replacement for the value you offer, then you're still screwed.

These are trends. There are still interstitial voids to fill with human talent and creativity, but those voids are shrinking. Good luck to all the value creators out there.
